Add players to your roster

Updated Apr 30, 2026 · 4 min read

Once your team is set up, the next step is building your roster. You can add players one at a time, or upload a spreadsheet to do the whole roster in one shot. Goalies go in the same roster, just with Goalie as their position.

Add a player

  1. Tap Manage in the bottom nav.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of your roster and tap Add New Player.
  3. Fill in the player's details:
    • First name and Last name
    • Number (jersey number)
    • Shoots - Left or Right
    • Position - Forward, Defense, or Goalie
    • Status - Active or Inactive
  4. Tap Save.

The player shows up in your roster immediately. You'll see them listed with their number, last name, and a quick summary line that reads Position • Shoots • Status (for example, F • L • Active).

Edit or archive a player

Tap any player in the roster to open the Edit Player screen. You can update any field, then tap Save. The same screen has an Archive Player option at the bottom for players who are no longer with the team. Archived players keep their stat history but won't appear in active roster lists or game tracking.

Goalies

Goalies are added the same way as skaters. On the add-player form, just pick Goalie as the position. They'll appear in your roster with a G in their summary line.

The starting goalie for any given game is picked when you set up live tracking, not from the roster screen. That way you can swap who's starting on a game-by-game basis without changing anything in your roster.

Active vs Inactive vs Archived

There are three states a player can be in:

  • Active - on the team and showing up in live tracking. The default for a new player.
  • Inactive - temporarily out of the lineup (injury, suspension, healthy scratch). They stay on the roster but won't appear during live game tracking. Toggle this on the Edit Player screen.
  • Archived - gone from the team for good. Stat history stays intact, but they're removed from your active roster lists. Use the Archive Player button on the Edit Player screen.

Bulk import from a spreadsheet (PRO)

If you've already got your roster in a spreadsheet, you can upload it instead of adding players one by one. CSV import is a PRO feature.

  1. From the Manage screen, scroll past Add New Player to the Export or update your roster box.
  2. Tap Export CSV to download a template that's pre-filled with the right column headers (and any players you've already added).
  3. Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers. Add a row for each player following the same column format.
  4. Save it as a CSV.
  5. Back in the app, tap Upload CSV and pick your file.

The app reads each row and adds the players to your roster. Using the exported template means your column headers and formatting will match what the app expects.

A few things worth knowing

  • There's no minimum or maximum roster size. Add as many players as you carry.
  • Inactive players don't appear in live game tracking, but their stat history stays intact.
  • Archive is for players who've left the team for good. Inactive is for short-term absences.
