Rinks are notorious for spotty Wi-Fi and weak cell signal. Elevate Hockey Stats is built so you can finish tracking a game even if your connection drops mid-period.
What works offline
Offline mode covers one thing: live tracking of a game that's already been set up.
Once you're on the live tracking screen with the rink and scoreboards visible, the app can keep working without an internet connection. That includes:
- Logging goals, shots, misses, blocks, and penalties
- Switching between periods
- Toggling power play
- Adjusting game settings (Quick mode, starting goalie)
- Editing or deleting events you've already tracked
- Finalizing the game at the end
Everything you tap during the game gets stored locally on your phone. When your connection comes back, the app syncs it all up to your account automatically.
What requires a connection
Pretty much everything outside the live tracking screen needs internet:
- Signing in
- Creating or editing your team
- Adding, editing, or archiving players
- Setting up a new game (the schedule, opponent, time, period length, starting goalie pick)
- Viewing your home dashboard, game history, player profiles, or shot maps
- Generating AI Insights after finalizing a game
- Anything in Settings or Billing
That's why the game has to be set up while you have a connection. Set it up at home, in the parking lot, or wherever you've got Wi-Fi or solid cell signal, then you can drop into the rink and track the game even if the connection vanishes.
How to tell if you're offline
There are two visual cues on the live tracking screen:
- Status dot in the top header. Green means connected. Yellow means offline. The dot updates in real time as your connection comes and goes.
- "Ready for offline tracking" toast appears at the top of the screen when you first enter live tracking, confirming that the game data is cached locally and you're good to go even if the signal drops.
How sync works when you reconnect
Sync is automatic. As soon as your phone gets internet again, the app pushes everything you tracked offline up to your account. No manual refresh, no sync button, no waiting around.
If you finalize a game while offline, the game stays on your phone until you reconnect. Once you do, it syncs and shows up in your game history with all its events intact.
A few things worth knowing
- Set up your game while you've still got internet. Once you're in live tracking, the offline cache kicks in.
- If your phone dies or you close the app mid-game with unsynced events, open the app again with internet and check your game history to confirm everything synced. If something looks off, contact support.
